Short circuit analysis calculations are performed on a power system to determine currents and voltages of the system during fault. The determined information is used to ensure new and existing equipment are capable of carrying and interrupting maximum available load currents, as well as, withstand and interrupt equipment from large mechanical forces created  by maximum available fault currents.
